Life on the Breadline
Did you know that there are more than 1 in 5 people in the UK who are experiencing poverty. Poverty can affect people in many ways, for example housing, food, energy, taking part in celebrations, and accessing opportunities. Poverty affects people that are working, and people who are unable to work or unemployed.
What is the anti-poverty charter?
A reflective action-oriented resource intended to help churches to tackle poverty and inequality in your neighbourhood and across the UK in a way that makes sense where you are.
The anti-poverty charter was developed through Life on the Breadline’s 3 years of research with national and regional Church leaders, local Christians and people experiencing life on a low-income.
Blockley church recognises the need to challenge structural injustice, better understand the unequal impact of austerity and the causes of poverty, thereby finding more ways of supporting people in need.
Life on the Breadline is a three year multi-disciplinary project analysing the nature, scope and impact of Christian engagement with urban poverty in the UK in the context of austerity since the 2008 financial crisis.
